Stove Bright Charcoal Paint on a 2005 Genesis Platinum (Grey Firebox)

So, I finally put some time aside this weekend to finally finish my 2005 Genesis Platinum. A local shop carries the Stove Bright paints, and I decided to try it. Since many of us have bene wondering how the Stove Bright paints match up, I decided to paint the firebox and take some pictures of...

Genesis E310 gray paint, what do you use?

Bruce, did you ever complete this with the charcoal paint? Any pics you can share?

I was featured in an OfferUp article about Weber grill restorers

    Great article! Well deserved recognition.

The reason I prefer the closed cart models of the pre 2007 grills...

I was working on my 2005 Platinum C today and trying to figure out why the propane tank standoffs were on a sheet metal panel instead of the frame. Now I know why. I am converting mine to open cart but I will still have the extra height.

    Rehabbers, lend me your eyes

When I pay $800 for a grill, I expect a drip pan to be included.

    Found a 1993 Weber Genesis 1000 LP

i bet when you are finished she’ll be a beut! Looks like lots of potential there. Do what Chris said, there are a couple of threads on restores like yours. Also check out The Virtual Weber Gas Grill, another great site run by Chris. And keep us informed with how it goes! Erik

    Genesis Platinum

Take a look at this grill, specifically, the last photo in the ad: https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/app/d/weber-genesis-platinum-3/6591183743.html It looks like at some point Weber may have put holes in the bottom shelf? Not sure if that would be enough to stop the rust, though.

    NIB 1970s Red Kettle!

Stumbled upon this today. Bid is over $300 so too rich for me. But still — a new in box red kettle! http://www.ctonlineauctions.com/detail.asp?id=717086

    Genesis Platinum

Jon, any thoughts as to what color you are going to paint the firebox and end caps? I am struggling with mine. I will have the black rack on the bottom and a black control panel (the grey one on the grill has some chips so I am using a black one I have in the parts bin) so I am leaning towards...

    Cleaning up SS rod grates

Wouldn’t something like that be great for taking off the old paint outside the firebox? Or do you not want do that before repainting?

Genesis E310 gray paint, what do you use?

Sorry, not sure where Krylon came from. What about StoveBright paint? https://www.northlineexpress.com/high-temp-paint.html

    Covers for Weber grills

I always cover my grills, usually with the Weber cover. This past winter my wife bought me a Nice Steelers cover with a soft inside lining. Well, the field mice must like the lining because for the first time ever they visited my grill and left droppings everywhere. Yuk. Also ate some of the lining,

    Silver B is Done

I can’t take credit for it. Years ago I was cleaning my Silver B and despite Simply Green and lots of scrubbing it was barely making a dent. My wife suggested the Magic Eraser and it cleaned up instantly. It truly was “Magic”.

Genesis E310 gray paint, what do you use?

I think Krylon makes high heat charcoal and gray paints. Worth looking into. I am thinking of using charcoal in my platinum restore.

    Silver B is Done

Before going with steel wool and bleach, try a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Works wonders on thermoset tables and much easier to boot!
