I was working on my 2005 Platinum C today and trying to figure out why the propane tank standoffs were on a sheet metal panel instead of the frame. Now I know why. I am converting mine to open cart but I will still have the extra height.

When I pay $800 for a grill, I expect a drip pan to be included.

Jon, any thoughts as to what color you are going to paint the firebox and end caps? I am struggling with mine. I will have the black rack on the bottom and a black control panel (the grey one on the grill has some chips so I am using a black one I have in the parts bin) so I am leaning towards...

Wouldn’t something like that be great for taking off the old paint outside the firebox? Or do you not want do that before repainting?

I always cover my grills, usually with the Weber cover. This past winter my wife bought me a Nice Steelers cover with a soft inside lining. I can’t take credit for it. Years ago I was cleaning my Silver B and despite Simply Green and lots of scrubbing it was barely making a dent. My wife suggested the Magic Eraser and it cleaned up instantly. It truly was “Magic”.

I think Krylon makes high heat charcoal and gray paints. Worth looking into. I am thinking of using charcoal in my platinum restore.

Before going with steel wool and bleach, try a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Works wonders on thermoset tables and much easier to boot!

The Genesis Platinum I bought had several holes in the bottom shelf. I am going the open cart design like Leandro did. I already have the shelf so things should be good to go.

That logo looks just slightly askew on my screen, which would seem to indicate decal.

The Platinum C I recently picked up has a grey cook box and endcaps, presumably to match the stainless frame. Not too fond of the monochromatic look so thinking either black (like the Golds) or charcoal colored.

Has anyone ever painted the endcaps of a lid another color? Curious how that would look especially with a stainless hood.
