T Bounds, care to share details of your dry aging process. We do rib roast also at Christmas. They are fun to cook and more fun to eat.

    cast iron grates

I also have the Lodge grate and reccomend it, unless more cooking space is needed. Works grate! Another interesting option is the mild steel custom grates as used by the BBQ Pit Boyz in their many Youtube videos. Since we are Dexter and Debra, I'm thinking about ordering one with "Double D BBQ"...

    One touch coal problem

Reminds me of my early attempts at grilling. We grilled chichen halves almost exclusively as thats what my parents mostly did. It was always on a round, uncovered flat bottomed grill. With 4 chicken halves dripping over hot coals, well you can imagine the flareups. It was either burn the meat or...

    Fantasy Grill

As much as I love my Performer, I wish Weber would build one based on the 26" kettle. I would buy it today!!!!!!!!!!

    Performer on a deck

My grilling/smoking is on a concrete patio only because I don't have a wooden deck, but at our hunting camp, a friend mounted a kettle in a wooden table. I was not there that night but the thing was just outside our camper. Some lit bricketts had been spilt on the lower part of the table. Just...

    Lump vs briquettes

A brickette that smokes, smells and crackles like lump is a brand that Lowes carries called Stubbs. I'm on my second bag and like it just fine so far. The inconsistancy in size of lump is a major negative for me. I've tried several brands and I end up with a half bag of pieces about the size of...

    Cast Iron Grate extra work?

Newbe post-Hello to all. Great site.I must second the suggestion by Andy Erickson on the Lodge grate.I only use it on Steaks, fish, kabobs, and other quick cook situations. Otherwise it stays in it's box, oiled up and ready. Easy to carry to the kitchen. It's much cheaper, lighter, more compact...
