    Used HM

Curious for those of you building to the latest and greatest... I have a friend of mine that loves the features of my HM (4.0 hardware) but is not really into electronics projects. I built my own but am not really wanting to build one for someone else in case I screw up. He is not looking to...

"Compatible" Maverick Probe - No go

I just had time to troubleshoot this tonight and you were right Bryan. I must have been pushing the probes too far into the jacks. Pull them out about 1/16" and they work fine with the ET-732 setting. So if any of you are prime members and looking for some $10 probes these indeed work.

"Compatible" Maverick Probe - No go

Surfing Amazon Prime recently I discovered some aftermarket probes that claim compatibility with the Maverick ET-732/733/735. Here is the link in case anyone else stumbles on them... https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B01MCYFTNX/tvwb-20 They are only $10 as an add-on item for prime...

    Re-heating carved smoked Turkey

I have a big cook coming up. 20-25 hungry guests who all love my smoked Turkey. I have 3 twelve pound birds that I'll need to smoke and with only 1 WSM 18in available I'm going to have to cook some ahead of the big day. We do own a food saver. I was thinking of vacuum sealing and reheating...

Latest Software: LinkMeter v13 and firmware

Thanks for sharing your great work Bryan. I can't tell you how many people are amazed at this heatermeter when they see it in action.

Latest Software: LinkMeter v13 and firmware

I haven't been around here much lately but I built a HeaterMeter about 1.5 - 2 years ago. Version 4.0 or 4.1 I believe... I have never updated the LinkMeter software on it since the original build. Is this current software build compatible with an older device? I would love to add ramp and...

    WSM 18.5 PID settings

I have a few cooks under my belt with my v4.0 heatermeter standalone. I love the capabilities of this little box but coming from an Auber temp control system I am noticing the Auber did a much better job of holding a temp tighter. Most of my early cooks were in the winter so I chalked it up to...

    Recommended PID values

I was leaning toward PID value's because with the same setup the Auber temp controller I've replaced can hold +-20 degrees and even tighter once it settles down several hours into the cook.

    Recommended PID values

I'm wondering since I have a pretty stock config if someone can share what PID value's got them tuned well. I have the 18.5 WSM with the high air flow auber fan. My first heater meter cook saw temp fluctuation over 50 degrees. A few instances almost 75 degrees. Rather than re-invent the...

HeaterMeter v4.0 for RaspberyPi / Standalone

I am about 3/4 way through my build. Unfortunately this project is not much less than a Stoker unless you are able to buy some of these parts in bulk. It was fun to break out my old soldering iron though. I am waiting for my Tom Kole case to finish off my build. The weak link in this project...

Having a heck of a time getting up to temp

My cook turned out fine. Right around 4 hrs for 2 14.5 lb birds. For those using an ATC with a large blower in frigid temps... One thing I discovered today is that the blower pretty much ran non stop the whole cook. When I cut power to the blower the temp at lid would come up to temp. In my...

Having a heck of a time getting up to temp

Thanks for the suggestions. I think to door cracked, more hot coals, all the bottom dampers open, and the blower going full blast is going to do the trick. We are at 278 and climbing.

Having a heck of a time getting up to temp

The top vent is at 3/4 open. The temp seemed to drop when I had it wide open. Might be wind effecting the cook. I moved a gas grill and other items around the cooker. It brought me to 258...
