    SmokeFire and Weber Tech Support

In Weber's defense, I volunteered I was ordering the fuses. Also, this was truly the best, most pro-active customer support I have ever had from an American company.

    Tri-Tip prices

A couple of years ago I could go to my local supermarket in rural Oklahoma and buy Tri-Tip roast for somewhere between $4.99 and $7.99 a pound. Not long after that, it seemed like tri-tip became nationally popular (no thanks to my luster, or lack thereof). Prices kind of drifted up, and last...

    SmokeFire and Weber Tech Support

A week or so ago my SmokeFire wouldn't wake up. Double checked the power cable and the connection, and nothing. Folks on Reddit said it was a fuse. I contacted Weber Tech Support, and laid out my problem. Immediately got a bot response along the lines of "we're thinking about". Followed shortly...

    SmokeFire conversion to generic pellets?

Baby backs and beef back ribs. About 9 hours total, not a jam to be had - ;)

    SmokeFire conversion to generic pellets?

OK, I've heard from enough on this site, gonna change my ways and buy a bag of apple pellets, load up the Smoke/Fire and smoke some pork ribs. Thanks for the input, much appreciated!

    SmokeFire conversion to generic pellets?

They don't mandate it, but I've heard from other forums that there are jamming issues with other pellets. Guess I'll have to **** around and find out.

    SmokeFire conversion to generic pellets?

As everybody but me seemed to know, the SmokeFire only uses the slightly smaller Weber wood pellets. The SmokeWood is not limited by that. Does anybody know about a way to convert the SmokeFire to be able to use generic pellets?

12 BBQ chains ranked from worse to first.

Rudy's has a pretty good reputation in Texas, but as noted above it can vary from location to location. Wife and I moved to Dallas from KC in 1994, found a Dickey's nearby and went often. We moved to OK, and found one across the river in Vernon, and only went once - bad service, bad food - and...

BBQ Light to attach to SmokeFire and/or Blackstone Griddle

These short CST evenings are cramping my style/harshing my buzz while trying to cook outdoors. I've tried some headlamps, but most were cheap and didn't last or had very short battery light. My wife bought me a cap with a light in the bill, it just never seems to be pointing in the right...

Rotisserie setup on a 22" kettle - tell me what works best for you

I'd still have my little hibachi from the '80s.

Rotisserie setup on a 22" kettle - tell me what works best for you

Ran out of room on our little patio, moved the 22" kettle to the barn with the roti. Might just have to do something with that.

You know you're getting old when...

Same here. In '85 I got a job at a PC store (no really, they existed). Sold IBM PC's w/256k of RAM, 5 MB hard drives were in the $1,000s. Sold Apple Lisas, Macs, Apple IIs.

You know you're getting old when...

I pumped 25 cent gas and of course cleaned the windows, checked the oil, tires, and radiator. Radial tires were a new thing, bought smokes for 25 cents, but quit when they raised the price to 35 cents. Took auto shop at summer school with a buddy, learned everything I ever wanted to know about a...

What should I not miss when visiting Dallas/Ft Worth?

If the weather's nice there is the Dallas Arboretum, nice place to take a walk and see some lovely flowers and landscaping. And if you like grilled meat and have an expense account, there's Fogo de Chao in Addison (N. Dallas) - there are other Brazilian places, but Fogo was just up the street...
