    Maiden Voyage

Here's my little home built unit...it's not much to look at, but it works like a champ.

    Maiden Voyage

No kidding. I cooked for about 4 hours and when I shut it down, it still had a good bed of coals left in the chamber. On .the S'nP, the 10#'s I started with would have been enough to get it heated up. Well, not quite that bad, but close. I built a small smoker for my lake cabin out of an old...

    Maiden Voyage

The bird turned out great Jim. by "a few birds" really meant 1 whole bird and 6 chicken quarters. Everything turned out very tasty for being 'naked.' I must say I love how it cooks. Once I havd it settled in at 250, I didn't have to muck with it at all...it just worked. I can't wait to do...

    Just Delivered - First Smoke

How'd you get into barbecue? *****

So...the rest of the story. I drag this 20 y/o monstrosity home, no idea what to do with it. The shelf was falling off, the handles were gone, it was in pretty rough shape. So, first things first, I go to the store and buy a brisket and a whole chicken. Fire up the charcoal chimney and call...

How'd you get into barbecue? *****

I'll do my best not to ramble on too long... Growing up near KC, I was not a stranger to good Q. My parents didn't grill or bbq, but we'd always go out to eat at local joints. I got married at an early age (19). My bride had learned the art of grilling from her grand-dad and dad. One of...
