The Adapt-a-Damper - Open Source Project

I will see if I can dig up the graph. From what I remember when temperature was too high the Heatermeter was at 0% and temperature did not drop quickly. It sounds like I have air leaks. I will look into that and then move on to fine tuning the PID. Thank you.

The Adapt-a-Damper - Open Source Project

The damper was closing and the servo seems to be working fine. I will look into air leaks or lid not being sealed well. Thanks for the suggestions.

The Adapt-a-Damper - Open Source Project

Any advice on PID settings? I smoked pork tenderloin and the pit temp would never get down to setpoint. Setpoint was 225F but pit temp would go down to about 221F and then go up to 240F and stay there. Then I raised setpoint to 350F then pit temp would go past 350F and stay around 380F to 400F.

    Blower fan adapter

Thanks J Thompson. Duct Tape it is (for now). I'm looking into buying a 3D printer but not sure what is the best in the $400 range. I'll have to do some research on it.

    Blower fan adapter

I have a Pit Boss 24 kamado. Is there a premade adapter to fit a Delta 50mm fan (square air outlet)? I'll either drill a 1-1/2" hole to slide an electrical conduit pipe into the bottom of the pit so I would need a square-to-round adapter. Or if there is a square adapter I'll keep it square and...

    HeaterMeter V4.3 kit with Thermocouple

I have a Delta 50mm fan which has a square air outlet. I'll be drilling a 1-1/2" hole to slide an electrical conduit pipe into the bottom of the pit for the fan to get air to bottom of pit. Does anyone have ideas on how to transition from square to a circle adapter?

    HeaterMeter V4.3 kit with Thermocouple

WBegg, I plan to do just that but use 1 thermister in the dome instead of the food. Thanks.

    HeaterMeter V4.3 kit with Thermocouple

Steve_M, your explanation was very helpful...now I understand the reason for 1 thermocouple. I've always used dome but didn't think about monitoring pit temperature (pit temperature is grate temperature for indirect heat, correct?). I think I will go with the TC for my HeaterMeter V4.3. Thanks...

    HeaterMeter V4.3 kit with Thermocouple

Thank you Steve_M. I'm thinking it may not be worth the extra cost and effort to incorporate thermocouples for now. Overall, it seems thermocouples are the better choice but I'll consider adding them in the future for V4.3. If I'm going to buy thermocouple probes I don't see the use of having...

    HeaterMeter V4.3 kit with Thermocouple

Thanks, JKalchik and Bryan, for your responses.

    HeaterMeter V4.3 kit with Thermocouple

JKalchik, I'm new to Heatermeter so I thought 2 thermocouples and 2 thermisters would be a good setup. I intend to only run two probes at a time. It sounds like with the thermocouple version w/ V4.3 kit I can only run 1 thermocouple.

    HeaterMeter V4.3 kit with Thermocouple

I will be building my own HeaterMeter V4.3 kit and would like to use thermocouples. I will be buying the V4.3 kit with thermocouple and will buy the blower, SD card, Raspberry pi, and power supply on my own. What does it mean when the Product Description says "Surface mount components needed for...
