It's Smokey Joe season again

Yesterday was the Milwaukee Brewers' home opener at Miller Park and like years past the Smokey Joe looked to be the most popular charcoal grill for those who tailgated; we took ours to grill a couple of brats and hot dogs. Unfortunately too many were overfilled with charcoal and doused with lighter fluid when a single Weber cube and a dozen or so briquettes are all that's needed to cook sausages or burgers.

The people next to us were using a portable non-Weber grill that didn't have a vent in the bowl and after the pile of fluid-soaked briquettes went out it had to be lit again...after adding more fluid.

right on. i plan to take my chimney and SJG to an oakland a's game next week. if people just learn to not overfill their SJ with charcoal or food, the venting and heat output aren't issues at all. i've cooked steaks on my SJG and maintained 500F+ with lid on no problem.
