Good wood source in NJ?

Any one know a good source for wood chunks in the NJ/NY area? I could even go to PA.

I've had mixed success ordering off the internet

Get friendly with your local landscapers (or handy neighbors). All you need is a little cherry, apple, hickory, pecan or oak. Maybe they'll give you a heads up the next time they're trimming something useful in your neighborhood.

Maple and oak are all over, maybe even in your back yard. The other option is to look for local pick your own type farms. I have had good luck getting apple wood from a pick your own farm. (Lee's Turkey Farm in East Windsor). $8 for a huge bushell that will last me for several years. Best time to go is when they prune the trees, obviously. Internet sources for wood are not good since the material is bulky and heavy. Not a good combo for shipping costs. Good luck!
