Nut (Pistachio) Extracts

How hard is it to make ones own. I'm especially interested in pistachio. A lot of the off the shelf is artificial. I have seen MO sources for all natural but either the quantity or the $$ is high once you add shipping.

So got me to thinking of whether I could simply take Everclear for Vodka and do a maceration much like is done for say Lemoncello, home made vanilla extract, etc. I have made my own coconut extract, but guess that's really not a nut.

Buy shelled unsalted, clean off any skin bitter ends and immerse? Maybe chop them up a bit first?

Anyone try this or have experience? Wondering what the proper ratio would be. Roast first?
