I bought a Smokey Joe to keep at our beach place in Atlantic Beach, NC. This past weekend was my first weekend getting to use it. Being at the beach and having limited space in the owner's closet forces me to use matchlight charcoal....cringe cringe, but I just don't have the addiditonal space for a chimney with chairs, fishing poles, tools, etc.
Anyway, the first night I made chicken breats...great, the second night I made pork tenderloin...great, and the thrid night I made Buffalo wings...not as good. I found that if anythiing took longer than 30 minutes of so I was really hurting on the heat. I do my wings indirect for 2 minutes and then on high heat until crispy....it was tough getting the last batches crispy.
All in all, a great portable grill perfect for these kind of weekends.
