I there any other access point for the probes other than the lid vent? I looked at the bbq guru gromets but it said that the mavericks probes were to larg.
 
check out the grommets on the cajun bandit website and purchase the larger ones. they will work with the maverick probes. i have them and fit fine. i've only drilled one hole and both probes fit thru it.
 
Go to the WSM Modifications page and search for Temperature Probe Grommets / Eyelets. You will find several posts showing you how to install grommets using common parts available at any hardware store.
 
I got the 6 foot probes from Maverick and just run the wires under the lid. It makes it easy to remove and replace the probes if I ever need to take the food off the grate (such as to foil it). I've been doing it that way for about a year and a half and have never had any problems with the probes.
