What books about BBQ should a noobie get?

I was just looking at books on BBQ and was wondering if you guys had any good books that would be good to look into about seasonings, temps, things to go with a meal and any other stuff like that.

Thanks, Derek

You will find that if you hang around the various forums, there are very few hard and fast rules about bbq. So the books are just one persons methods. Not everyone does it the same way. You will need experiment to find out what works for you. Almost any method can produce good food. Hang out at the forums and you can learn everything that is in a book plus a lot more. Enjoy the journey!

Any of the Weber books would be great starters. Weber's Big Book and New Real Grilling are two of my favorites but as I mentioned they're all great.

I agree with Cliff the recipes in the Weber series of books by Jamie Purviance are very good. We have I believe up to now all of them. But also hang out on here and you will learn as much as a boat load of books, plus you can ask questions. Take what you see and tweak it to your needs.

You can't post a search result link from the forum's search engine...it's only temporary. :( But entering "BBQ books" into the search box at the top of the page will get you some good results, including:

And I've got a list of popular BBQ/grilling books on the TVWB Shopping page. All links on that page help support this forum!

Smoke & Spice, Updated and Expanded 3rd Edition: Cooking With Smoke, the Real Way to Barbecue , I have this book and I refer to it often, I would suggest it.
