Ribs on the Grill in roughly 1 hour

I went with my plan. I used one chimney of Weber, then heated 2/3s of another chimney full of coal that was sitting in the kettle for who knows how long. That proved to be too much and I had to collect that mid-cook and put it back in the chimney. I flipped every 5-10 minutes, mopping at each...

Ribs on the Grill in roughly 1 hour

Inspired by a particular bbq joint out of Alabama ("Ain't nothing like em nowhere"), I'm going to give 1(-ish) hour ribs a shot. I've watched them cook from across the restaurant and timed it from when the meat hit the grill to when it came off and its JUST less than an hour. I doubt they're...

    NJ/NY/PA area Restaurant recommendations

My wife started a tradition of taking our kids on a special trip for them when they turn 13. My younger son turns 13 today so his trip is coming up. I've never traveled to this area, and my wife's only been a couple times. We like good food. It doesn't have to be fancy, and it doesn't have to...

    Tell me about espresso

I'm a bit of a homebody. (Some may accuse me of being a recluse.) My wife perpetually has wanderlust. She's talked about wanting to go to Italy for a while and has now corrupted my daughter into wanting to go as well. It wasn't until this very post that I've ever wanted to travel to Italy.

Replacing welded handle w/ one that bolts on

There's a YT video of a guy grinding the existing handle off, leaving the tabs that are welded, and drilling thru that. I don't hate that idea. Thanks for the feedback guys.

Replacing welded handle w/ one that bolts on

I now use a pan or cast iron griddle to act as a heat sink ...but also to channel the heat out the top of the KP opening and haven't had anymore melting-handle issues when using the KP. It also browns the tops better, particularly when "doming". Is the consensus just to drill out the weld?

Replacing welded handle w/ one that bolts on

When using my Kettle Pizza attachment, I managed to melt the plastic handle of my 22" kettle. I've since melted a bit more using the lid of my 22 to help snuff out the fire from my firepit. I knew I'd seen newer/nicer kettles w/ a heat shield that I thought would be a nice addition to my...

    rcplanebuyer grates & flavorizer bars

I had an email exchange with him a while back but something came up and I didn't pull the trigger. I went to have him invoice me today and the email bounced from the original craiglist post. I can't seem to find a current craiglist post, so in the meantime I've created an alert for when a post...

    Stable Firmware Release v14

Remembered I had a port expander and a little dd if=x of=x, plopped the card into the pi, and I'm back in business. Its been a while since I upgraded, so I'll have to check out what's new. Thanks for the quick help.

    Stable Firmware Release v14

It may've been the AVR firmware now that I think about it. (I(t) completed the cook and its disconnected right now.) I'll try again, though I'm pretty confident I can't connect to port 80. I didn't try ssh/22. Supposing I can ssh, how can I update the pi image?

    Stable Firmware Release v14

I upgraded to the newest firmware (I think the timestamp was sometime in July of 2020). There was just a bit of fluctuation I wasn't expecting so on a whim I checked for new firmware. I saw it get to 100%, then hit refresh, and that's the last time I've been able to interface with the web side...

    Little Griddle Reviews

I've cooked on a LG Sizzle-Q (bigger than the half griddle, smaller than the biggest) one time. I enjoyed what I ate off it, but I need to change some things to turn out a better product. (Basically, I didn't use high enough heat.) It seems well made, but I don't have enough experience to...

Still got the part. Anybody interested for the cost of large flat-rate shipping (I think).

    Cooking your best burger

I'm glad I started this thread ...and that I resuscitated it. @DuncanW those maple-bacon-cheddar burgers sound interesting.

    Cooking your best burger

Before I started, I took about 10 minutes and "sharpened" my spatula w/ 600 grit water stones. That was pretty slow, so I eventually resorted to the coarse diamond stone I have. I got about halfway to where I wanted to go, but there's 6 of us and momma bear was starting to get hungry. I...

    Cooking your best burger

Sizzle-Q is arriving today. I'm going to have a go at smash burgers on the Redhead Genesis this evening. Sorry to dredge up an old post, but it was an informative read.

    ID part, then an offer

I believe I know what this is, but I’m positive one of you would know what it is. I think it must’ve been swapped out when a Genesis was converted from LP to NG. Can anyone confirm? After proper ID, would anyone be interested in it for whatever it costs to ship it from 29630...
