WSM base

Hi all! Looking to add a couple mods to my new WSM and looking for anyone else who has added a rolloing base to their smoker. I saw a pic somewhere with a WSM on a rolling base with locking wheels. Handy if it starts to rain and you want to move your cooking to a covered awning or something similar. Also I ordered a Nomex gasket kit to help seal my smoker a bit better. I want it as efficient as I can get it. A waste of money you think? Let me know your thought please. Brand new to the Forum here. Been smoking for a number of years and hoping to step it up a few notches with my new WSM!
Cheers!:wsm:

Easiest thing to do is buy an 18" kettle and put the wsm on it. Put the wsm charcoal ring in the base and Jack's your uncle :wsm:

Bill. Its not a waste of money.. I found an old 22.5" kettle in a dumpster which was toast. I saved the Triangular base and wheels and added that to my 18.5" WSM.

I keep all my Weby's in the garage, and wheels are what make's it easy to go mobile.:wsm:

I've installed Nomex on two 18.5's. I would do it again. The bowls are often out of round. I like the tighter seal. I think you have better control.

Hey guys! Thanks for all the tips! Great info and ideas for me to try! Already lovin this website and cant wait for some awesome Q!!

Read the mod section and I think you will find many examples of bases or wheel mods, as well of many others. I did about 7 mods to mine and don't regret any of them, in fact all of them were essential as far as I'm concerned.....................d
