Wooden Handles

Is it better to stain wooden handles? I have some wooden handles that still have the Weber logo imprinted on it. Would staining ruin that imprint? Thanks

If you use a lighter colored stain, then that should be ok. You may just want to clear coat it to protect it and show off the grain.

Good thinking on the clear coat. That's the route I will go.

i'm dealing with this issue now. usually the wood is so weather beaten i just use mineral oil. but the ga i go had really good wood. most of the stain was still there though fadded a bit. looks to me they used a cheap stain. i've looked at things and have decided to use deck stain that is synthetic, no oil or water. oil tends to promote mold. if yer wood is in perfect shape then maybe polyurethane will be good enough.

Hey George, I ended up using polyurethane. The handles are not completely dry yet, but here are some pictures to give an idea of how they turned out.

very nice. the stain on handles is fadded at spots and is actually flaking at other spots. kinda looks like a cheap stain. so i do need to do some light sanding and then a restain.
