Weber Tool Holder

Just purchased a Weber tool holder so I can hang my tongs, grill brush, and long fork onto the side of my WSM. I used a Dremel Tool to trim off some of the mounting, and then pinched the mounting to make it fit better onto the rim of the middle section. I think it's going to work well and it will be handy to keep the tools close by while using the smoker.

That's great! I bought two different Weber tool holders for my OTG 22.5 but was unhappy with the way the lid fit after with either one, I felt too much air was escaping. I haven't bothered to try to troubleshoot and bought a cheap metal kitchen utensil holder for my tongs that I haul out with me to use instead.

Did trimming it help? Are you finding it makes air escape? Just curious. You're inspiring me to go search the internet to see if I can find anything else to hang the tools on or make it a better fit with my Weber.

Enjoy - happy smokin' -

Laura, don't give up on the Weber Tool Holder just yet. I've had the older style on my OTG for years, and it does take a while for gunk to build up and seal the edges.
As you can see it's hard to even notice the clips in this pic.

far as i'm concerned, that little bit escaping really adds up to nothing. just regulate yer lower vents and yer good to go. i use the slideaside on my kettles and find no issues.

Okay, cool, then I will try again! This was when I was first learning to grill and had no clue about maintaining temperatures. I just got lucky that it mainly worked out but it seemed to have a definite impact with the tool holders. Now I've got my thermapen and my maverick grate thermometer, it'll be my next experiment to see if it really makes any difference and regulate to maintain temp. I'm all saavy now.

Thank you -

Laura, I've got the same tool holder that Tim's showing in his picture. All I did was trim some of the mounting tab off that you can see hanging over the inside edge of the grill and then pinched the same tab for a snugger fit on our WSM. It works great and no problem with the lid sealing onto the middle section of the smoker, as after doing this the lid still goes all the way down and contacts the whole circumference of the middle section. I think it will be even easier with your OTG, you may only have to pinch it a little. Good luck with your tool holder!

yep, i use them and though it might leak a little i found no issues with it at all. a few small leaks is just not a problem folks.

Laura, like George I've had mine for many years with zero issues ( you can see it in my pic )
Same thing as the tool holder, give it a chance to build up some gunk and leaks are hardly noticed.
Buy it you will definitely love it.:)

Great! Thank you! I'm using my SJ a ton right now but planning some bigger cooks on my 22.5 coming up. Yay!
