Weber Kettles are Awesome!

A couple of years ago I found a 22.5" OTG advertised on CraigsList in the town nearby where my daughter and SIL live. SIL went to see it and picked it up for $30, IIRC. It was in near new condition and was surplussed when its original owner went to a gas grill.

I cleaned it up and washed it with a degreaser, bought a new hinged grill and started using it. Over time I've made a few mods: dial thermometer in lid and probe port in body and the like.

Last Christmas darling daughter and SIL gifted me with the Gourmet BBQ set complete with griddle, sear grate and the clip-on side table that looks a bit like the Performer. Those changes have really upped my game . . . especially the side table. I'm gonna get the slide away lid holder for sure and might buy the wok insert. Are there any other accessories that gave you great bang for the buck? The pizza oven looks neat but I wonder if I'd use it enough to justify its cost.

You cannot go wrong with a Weber!

If you are wanting a wok for the system, look at this link. It is a little more money but you get the real benefit of a wok. I am sure the cast iron wok is great, but it will stay hot all over, but a real wok will give you the cooler zones that make a wok so versatile. Just my 20 cents (adjusted for inflation).

Thank you, Bob!

Do you use the 16" wok in a gourmet bbq grill (the one with the removable center)? I want to get the right size for my 22.5" g-bbq grill.

Yes, I use the sixteen. The one in the red link is the exact one I use.will be using it a lot moe since my doc has changed me diet a lot. And yes I use it with my 22 inch gourmet bbq&catAb grill. Works great!

Thanks Bob on the tip on the wok! I'm ordering it tonight! I have a cast iron wok, which I really really like a lot, but with a lot of things lately, it's just too heavy for me to carry back and forth to and from the house to use. I'm doing everything I can to avoid a third back surgery. This getting old shet, is a pain in my .....back! :-)

i feel your pain Mary. I also have a bad back and now kidney stones. More pain in the back.

By the same token, age is just a state of mind.

Kidney Stones hurt as much as labor pains, and I'm not kidding! I feel for ya, Bob.
As far as age is just a state of mind, my mind agrees with you, but my back and right leg differ.
My last back surgery was two years ago, and even though it wasn't as rough as the first one, I don't want to go through that again. Ever. So I guess it's time to get rid of my heavy cooking appliances, and start a lighter life. (Sigh)
