Have a Genesis Silver B (2000ish)

I sent an email to Weber asking for the size of the bolts that hold down the burners. The ones on the left, front & rear. When replacing my burners last year I had some issues getting the old ones out - pretty much rounded the heads. I want to dis-assemble the grill for a complete cleaning = I'll need to replace them.

The reply from Weber was "we don't have any information on them, they come assembled from the factory if you removed yours you'll need to buy a new cookbox" - yeah, right, I don't think so.

So that's my question - anyone know the size?

(according to Weber they're called "guide screws")

I don't think the guide screws are meant to be tightened all the way down. I have had some older 1000's and Genesis grills that had the same problem as yours. I'm pretty sure that the burner tubes are supposed to slip under the guides and the crossover tube has a bracket that fits in the center tube to keep them aligned. One in place the manifold bracket is secured with wing nuts. Try to wiggle the burners loose, they have a U shaped end and should come out with a little effort.

They're not all the way down.

Good point, I could just release the manifold end & remove the burners.........
