I'm helping a friend restore an older kettle. He wants to replace a damaged lid that doesnt have a thermometer with one that does. When I called customer service they advised since the original didn't have one I couldn't buy one with the thermometer.....company policy. I understand there are liability issues with modifications but, come on.....a thermometer? I ended up calling a local store that will order it for $5 more. I could have lied but just couldn't. When I asked her what is to stop people from lying she said they ask for the serial number of the grill to verify....had to laugh as to the best of my knowledge that only indicates year. If she was at least polite about it I wouldn't be ranting about so much. Oh well, it was my first and only bad experience with them.
