Weber chill?

Not sure where to post this. I saw someone selling two new in the box Weber chill's on CL. They don't know what they have and are calling them grills. I tried to explain to the seller what they had, but it didn't sink in, or they just don't understand. They are asking $69. I've never heard of this item before seeing this ad and did some quick research. I found that they are no longer made and basically did not work very well. Could anyone offer any info on these, is it not even worth $69?

Someone on here posted about those coolers a while back, The coolers where suppose to have some electrical problems & not work so good.

DMack... I guess I was inquiring about this CL post right about the same time as you did. I noticed the box in the posting said Weber Chill as opposed to Grill as stated in the listing. I emailed the seller and asked if that was an actual picture of the box. Surprisingly she replied back that it was actually a Weber Chill and not a grill and apologized. She also said due to the inconvenience she would take $50 for the unit.

Long story short, I brought home two sealed brand new in the box Weber Chills for the low price of $100. :) I did read online a couple of people had problems but some seemed to have good luck so I took a shot. Don't know what I'm going to do with two though LOL.

Some pics...

Here is a pic of one of them unboxed and "chillin" in my den sorta speak ... Set thermostat for 5 out 8 and its downright frigid in there after 4 hours ... We loaded it with about a dozen cans and it didn't make a dent in the room inside of it... Pretty cool. As you can see the color is not Weber Red but really is metallic Crimson. I think it's pretty classy looking .... for a party fridge.

Apparently this unit was made for Weber by a company called Summit. It's still sold on Amazon for over $600! Here is a pic ... Notice the lid is different on the non Weber version. The Weber lid is just like a kettle lid compete with a hook to hang the lid off to the side! Hope it doesn't turn out to be a lemon as I am really liking this little guy.

Just curious to know how your Crimson Chill has held up over the last 2 months? Any electrical issues? What did you do with the 2nd unit?

Sorry for the late reply. Been a hectic holiday season. The Crimson Chill was originally supposed to be out away till spring and used out side. However, after giving it a test run, it's still sitting in my den, used every day. It was real convenient having cold beverages in the living areas during holiday entertaining. We have it filled up with about 4 dozen assorted beers, water bottles, and soda cans. It's a really cool piece! In fact, we are moving to a new house in the next 6-8 weeks and the wife and I already agreed the chill is going to get a permanent location in our new den. It works flawlessly. The other chill is at the in laws house, not being used. I told them it's going out by the pool at our new house this summer.
