Welcome. Nothing wrong with either one of those grills as far as project desirability. Both are great examples and would be sought after by almost any of us regulars here. Looking forward to the progress pics as you get into each one.

Welcome Matt,

Head over to the top of the gas grille forum and you'll find a couple of sticky threads with a ton of info.

Cheers

The redhead has a crack in the firebox, but I think it is still okay. The green one is pretty solid with most everything still there. My goal was to just have a 3000 because I wanted a side burner to light charcoal haha I got the green one first, for free, and then a few days later picked up the red one. I may end up with two nice grills tbough haha

I appreciate it! Will head on over tonight when I get some time to veg out on the computer haha

Welcome. Nice grills, but I do not envy the wood work ahead of you. Been there, done that, hope to not do that again;-)
Any tips? Seems most guys use cedar fence posts? I actually have a small, humble wood shop in the basement. Another expensive hobby of mine haha

I was able to clean, sand, and refinish
I am hoping to the same with my redhead. According to the seller, he claims it is teak wood. They seem relatively solid. I picked both up and basically put them right in the shed till I get some free time to start tearing them apart.

Hi Matt, welcome to the forum! You will be able to find plenty of examples of those grills here that have been restored. The woodwork is definitely a project within a project. Whether you refinish your current wood or make new stuff, having the tools to do it will definitely come in handy.
