Ashely, I guess it depends on what your goals are. For me the folloowing makes it worth it:
1) I love the data I can generate using Stokerlog. It really helps my ability to understand the temps I cook at and the effects that temp changes and time periods effect the flavor of the meats. I litterally print out the graphs and make notes on them.
2)I also like very much the ability to set alarms indoors while I am smoking outdoors and change and set temps. Mostly, when I am doing overnight smokes I can keep the computer near my bed and watch the temps without getting cold...
3) The other advantages of a stoker over the competition are unlimited number of probes and fans controlled by one unit, so we use it at comps to control 2 pits.
