Using the Go Anywhere gas grill

Hi just picked up a new GAG off CL yesterday and have some questions:
1) How long should it take to light up? I'm using a Coleman camping canister. It seems to take about 15-30 seconds of leaving the gas on before the ignitor lights it up.

2) Is it normal for the ignitor assembly to get burning hot to the touch? After seasoning the grill, the ignitor turned so hot it nearly burned my hand!

3) How often should I clean the flavorizer plate? I want mine to last, as a replacement plate will cost about half the price of grill itself. I'm willing to wash it with soap and water regularly, but something tells me that this might not necessarily extend its life.

Otherwise, I'm really exited about using this small grill in creative ways. I look forward to having it on a patio table top and eating some searing hot meat slices!!!!!

I have one that I use strictly for tailgating when I know I won't have the time to wait on coals to heat up and then cool down. Have you made sure the wire from the igniter is close enough to the gas line? I've had to bend it a little before to make sure it works. I've also had to resort to removing the plate and using a hand lighter if it's somewhat windy outside.

I've only had mine for a couple years so I can't help much on how long the plate will last but I've only cleaned it a few times when I've noticed any really serious build-up on it.

clean and then spray the flavorizer bar with pam if you don't use it regularly. make sure the burner tube holes are all clean. I use a welder burner tip cleaner tool. I have written a bit about the gga so might want to look that up.
