As I stated in my intro, I am christening my new 22.5 OTG this weekend. My plan is to do a dry rubbed tri-tip and learn how to work with controlling heat (as best I can). Can anyone give me any pointers as to temps and cook times. I am planning to use a mix of cherry and pecan with my coals. Thanks.

Keep it simple, Keep your temp on your grill around 300-350*F and cook the tri tip till 130-135*F internal. Should take around 30-45 minutes.

do the reverse sear way. cook indirect until you get a internal temp of around 120 or so. then let the coals get real hot and then sear all sides. you should get a internal temp of around 145 or so. you do not want to overcook this meat.
