Where's the most ideal place to mount a thermometer on the lid of a 22.5 OTG? If i'm going to drill a hole in the lid i want it to be in the right place. I'm kinda thinking 180 degrees from the vent, but would like to hear others
I placed mine @ 90 deg so when I am indirect cooking on one side with the vent over the meat the thermo is facing me. I can't see where you could go wrong either way, just my personal preferance.

Found this...
Ascetically that's the best place for sure.
New Performer is also in the same place i believe.

nice job on the mod Stefan! Take it you put the tap on to avoid paint chipping? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
That was the plan with the tape but the porclain sill chipped a little. Nothing too major.
I put mine in the same position as yours. Used plenty of tape and a step drill bit and it still chipped. Lucky the therm just covered the chipped part. I ordered the performer therm to keep things as weber as possible. I have to admit that I was a bit nervous drilling into my kettle. Good job my fellow countryman.
