Although many suggested just putting a thermometer through the top vent I went ahead & installed a 2 in stem thermometer.
I'm taking this cooker to hunt camp & the odds of us keeping up with a loose thermometer are slim!
Put tape on inside & out of lid & warmed the lid over the fireplace till very warm.
Drilled up to the 3/8 in hole with several steps & lined with canola. No chipping of the porcelain at all!
Lined all the washers & nut with canola & installed.the thermometer is accurate , I pulled from my horizontal smoker.

Thermos are just for a reference anyway, right

Like the colors of the therm!

I installed the same therm in my wsm (different location, I did same as the exhaust on the opposite side of the handle.) I've been very happy with it. I don't know how accurate mine is but its awesome as a reference, I installed mine before ever cooking on it and it is very helpful in learning how to dial in the temps with vent and water pan variations. I have even submerged mine (on accident) while cleaning the lid and no water or humidity got in there. Good luck on all future hunts I'd love to see more game cooks/recipes for the wsm.
