temp issues

Okay... got the DigiQ hooked up and fired up the smoker. DigiQ reads 230, dome reads 190. whiskey tango foxtrot?

I checked the DigiQ probes in boiling water. Both read 210. Checked the dome temp with my meat thermometer, which also reads right in boiling water and it read 225 (limit).

I'm tending to believe my dome therm is farked. Which would explain why my last couple cooks took forever and a day.

*sigh*

I've noticed wildly different readings on my dome gauge as well. I read temp via my diy auto temp controller and my et-73 from just above the upper cooking grate. I've got those two set up to where they usually agree. What I've found is that the lid gauge reads about 20 degrees higher when the smoker is coming up to temp and after it stabilizes, it reads about 15-25 degrees cooler.

I think it's due to the location in comparison to the ones at the cooking grate. I've tested the probes for the temp controller and et-73 in boiling water and both are correct.

I pretty much ignore the lid gauge unless I was to see that it was way off. Then I might wonder if I've got a problem. It bugs me that the lid gauge is not reliable but I think if you've got one you know is correct (since you tested it) just rely on that one.
