Temp issues ???

Cannot get my SS Performer over 300 degrees? Outside temp @ 70. Using Kingsford charcoal banked to one side. Does anyone ever test the thermometer? Seems I used to get 300-400 regulary. Any idea's and what do you generally operate at temp wise.

if your doing everything the same it could be bad coal

Do you have an old oven thermometer? My performer is new but it gets cranking to 450 if you leave the cover on with the same setup you have.

Have you tested your thermometer? I test my probes now at least once every couple of months using the boiling water technique.
