Temp Controller or Stacker

So I am wondering which would be the better low and slow option for my 22.5"OTS. I have been looking at the Smoke-EZ but then I look at it that I don't need that kind of room because it is just me and my wife. So then I think I should just get the Guru or the IQ110. What say you?

Rob, what are you wanting to cook? There are a couple of methods for setting up your kettle which do not require the Smoke EZ or an ATC. Some of the members are using the snake method for long cooks, I like this method http://tvwbb.com/showthread.php?43255-Science-of-BBQ-diagramed. You can get 5-6 hours this way. Brisket, butt and ribs are all easily doable with the kettle. It's all about technique and setup.

Rob, I have/had most or all of Webers smokers and kettles. I also own a Cajun Bandit Stacker. I like the Stacker.. I have adapted it to add three 22.5 grill grates and one 18.5 grill grates. With the stacker and kettle I rarely use my 22 WSM. I've done the snake method and coals on the side and while it's OK it takes more babysitting to stablize the heat than a WSM or Kettle/Stacker.

I think I am going to cook on it a little more. For this past weekends pork butt I did the snake method and got 7hrs using the snake method. I am starting to wonder if I just got a case of wanting to accessorize.

The kettles are amazing, you just have to learn to work them. A couple of firebrick added to your cooking arsenal will add thermal mass and assist with some cooking situations.:)

I can see they are amazing for the cooking arsenal. I need to go to the wood stove store for fire bricks for my pellet stove anyway. I am thinking rotisserie though

You will not regret the rotisserie. Apparently Weber has a new one out. The Cajun Bandit is stainless but not as tall. I made up my own for the 26. I had the Weber for the 22 before. It worked well.

I was in the same situation you were in when I first started. I decided on making a UDS smoker and picked up a Guru. Later on I got a smokin' deal on a WSM. IMO the UDS cooks just as good as the WSM does.
