Summit s670 rotisserie

I've had my S670 for a couple of years now and love but have one problem. When using the rotisserie, if left unattended, it will work its way out of the motor and, of course stop rotating. I have a work around by locking one of the forks on the bar on the inside of the BBQ. This stops it sliding to the right and disengaging from the motor but eaves me with only 3 forks to to secure two chickens. Does anyone else have this problem, and if so have they come up with a better solution?

Don,

Every once in a while mine S-670 rotisserie will do that. Usually I can just re-seat the rod into the motor and it's good to go. I'm interested to see other replies because I always thought I was just not placing it right. My only concern is that the groove on right side of the rod where it rests on the firebox seems overly large and allows it to come out of the motor. But once I have it "well seated" in the motor it seems to work without issue.

not sure of the setup. but if the rod has a round cutout section that seats into the grill on the right side and the rod is working out of that then there are two things that can be done. one is to make the round part in the rod a bit deeper which would be hard to do. another is to just get a set collar. this installed on the end of the shaft will prevent it from moving and coming out. the little set screw can be replaced by a wing screw. many hardware stores will have these in different sizes.

Thanks for your suggestions and comments. I've also had some success wedging the motor in a forward leaning position but this cuts into the work area. I think that I'll just have a collar made up and lock it on the inside of the grill to stop the shaft working its way forward
