Summit S-670 Wont Stay Lit

I have had a Weber Summit Gold grill hooked up to a Natural Gas line at my house for close to 10 years. Last weekend I replaced it w a Summit S-670. When I went to start it for the first time (and every subsequent time after) I could get an flame but the minute I unpushed the starter knob, the flame would go out. I did try holding it in for upwards of 30-60 seconds (like I do for my gas fire place for the first light every winter).

I called Weber and they basically refused to help me without me giving them the specific pressure and coupling type of my natural gas line. Since I had no clue as to those specifics they basically rudely refused to help or even provide any sort of basic troubleshooting guidance.

So I figured I would start here. Has this happened to anyone before? Does anyone have any recommended trouble shooting approaches?

Thank you in advance.

Cheers

I don't think it's a matter of them "refusing" you but more of a fact finding BEFORE they can truly help. I would have to ask the same thing. IIRC the Summit should have a regulator included with it. Your gas line would hook in to that regulator. The gas line should have about 7.5" WC and the regulator should control that to 4.5" WC. The pressure into and out of that regulator is important to know to troubleshoot the issue you have. Also whoever hooked it up may have gotten some debris in the line which may have clogged the jets, or a valve

Thanks LMichaels. I am already in the process of trying to arrange an expert to come out and take a look. I simply took the gas line out of the old grill and into the new. I figured it was an issue with the line and regulating the pressure. Just didn't know if there was something someone like myself, somewhat ignorant in plumbing, could do to check it. I was honestly shocked by how unhelpful the weber support person was. Your response was much more helpful than the few mins I was on the phone with them. I appreciate the help. Cheers!!
