After installing at least 50 of these dang igniters from Amazon I had a situation today that I have yet to figure out. As part of the puzzle I have 2 identical grills right next to each other they are both basic 3 burner Genesis 300 series front knobs no side burner or sear burner. I will call the grill that is working the " good " grill and the grill that kicked my butt the " bad " grill from this point on. On the good grill every igniter I tried works and pops loud like it should.....I have 3 brand new igniters all the same from Amazon super cheap. Again every igniter works as it should on the good grill. On the bad grill I can get the igniters to work but the spark sound is faint and the spark isnt real strong......I couldnt even get the grill to fire up even with letting the propane flow longer than I am comfortable with. I didnt have a lighter or a match just to get to see fire....so I was stuck trying to get the igniters working correctly on the bad grill. Well I tried swapping wires back to the original Weber wires.....swapping ground wires.....swapping one wire at a time.....but with everything I tried I never got all 3 sparks popping the way they should. It drove me crazy because several times completely stumped I walked over to the good grill plugged in the igniter and pop pop pop like a good girl. There are a few things I can do and a few thoughts that I will just throw out in no particular order
1. Swap the ground wire with a known good ground wire
2. Take the burners and the wires out of good girl and try in bad girl. They would have to work.....
3. Just use the wires and ground from good girl over to bad girl.
4. It seems if you have one bad wire that it could suck the power from the other sparklers.
5. No I did not have another battery or a lighter....and I did check the orifices to make sure they were not clogged on the manifold.
6. Note....I do believe that I ordered these igniters for the 4 burner Genesis because they were crazy cheap and they use the same less one wire. I am not sure off of the top of my head if the 4 burner igniter has more colored sockets in the back of the box or if it is the same and the three burner just adds the ground as wire number 4....that sounds right.

Anyway.....wowza......2 hours and went home with my tail between my legs.....and handed my resto card over until further notice.
I will be back at it on Monday....I will order a different igniter specifically for the 3 burner...which should make any difference but I will do it anyway so I can sleep tonight. And the first thing I will do on Monday is take everything from good girl and try it in bad girl for a sure thing victory of sorts.

Yes I know I switched from grill to girl.....it was more fun saying it like that.....

One other question.......do igniters get additional ground from being installed on the burner tube from the metal to metal contact? Do they get further completion of ground being installed over the gas orifice? Those might just be dumb questions.....I am off my game...frazzled.....put in the back up QB......

Dang it!!!! I just figured it out while I was reading reviews on the item I ordered.......dang it dang it.........the sparklers are too close to the burners.....I need to increase the gap......now thats the only thing I didnt think to check.....
