Stoker: Using food probe as control sensor?

I am not near the stoker today to try this out, but has anyone used a Rock's food probe as the blower control sensor instead of using a short pitsensor?

I literally mean using a food probe on the grate, rather than in food. Hypothetically, let's say your pit sensor broke mid cook or did not work when you went to plug it in, could you assign a food probe to the blower?

I think the answer is yes, that it works fine and I thought I asked this a while ago but can not find it.

It will work that way. You will have to assign it as your pit probe for it to work. IIRC the new probes are good to 450F

Yeah, I verified it seems to work this afternoon. Simply assigned a blower to it and used hot and cold glasses of water to manipulate the temp. seemed to work.

Since I do competitons, it is nice knowing I could do this if one of my pit sensor probes failed.
