I got this console grill several years ago so I could have some more cooking space.
So I used to start with lighter fluid, but have finally seen the error of my ways. I've been using a chimney starter for a while, but I got to thinking, "Self," I says, "you know that adjustable charcoal grate may allow you to start your grill in a similar kind of way to a chimney." So, I experimented and I've been starting my grill this way for a few months now.
First, I gotta get me some scrap paper I have lying around. See, I'm green. I recycle!
(By the by, I'm still trying to figure out if adding a little oil to the paper really makes a difference):
I then crumple the paper up underneath and lower the grate until it crunches the paper down a bit:
Light:
And let it burn:
Very good results.
