SS Performer frame repair help

I noticed that the lower horizontal section was loose and when I tried to tighten it the bolt just turns. Looks like the inside part that hold the bolt in place is rusted away. anyone have some ideas on how I can fix this without a welder?

That is definitely a weak spot, if you call failing after over 10 years a weak spot. I have a friend with a welder and I would go that route, sorry I'm of no help to your actual question. Good Luck.

I'm sure someone on here has a solution for you.
 
Small piece of flat stock on the top and bottom, attached with a couple self tapping screws should work. Kind of an ugly fix but it should work...
 
sup guys?? away for a while.. I rebuilt a 99 for a friend of mine. used 3/4" square pieces of wood and gorilla glued them inside, then I loaded the edges up with JB weld epoxy and put a lag bolt into the wood and painted around it...solid as a rock for a permanent fix.. hope that helps.. Glenn
