Spirit 210 - Assembly is off

I’m restoring this Spirit II 210. I bought it off Craigslist and it was operational when I picked it up. While taking it apart to clean it, I’m seeing that the screws on the manifold cover do not align.

Do I just bend that part into place? The pictures explain it better.

I'm not too familiar with the newer grills but the dimple and stretch in that panel make me think this grill has face-planted at some point.

Well, you can see how it's supposed to go together. Now the trick is to make that work whatever you have to do. It does look like something is bent or pushed in though.

Looks like it took a fall. Have you fired it up yet?

I can’t speak for certain on the Spirit II line, but on most Spirit grills the screw holes on the front panel behind the knobs are not supposed to be dimpled out like that. They are smooth and flat from the factory. My guess would be that the grill has taken a tumble of some sorts. Usually it is the gas valves that come out worse for wear in these situations. Inspect them carefully for damage and test for leaks before reassembly.

Yep it’s taken a dove at some point. Everything generally lines up and lines up pretty well. That will need additional tweaking.
