There seems to be quite a swing and recovery looks to take some time. Any thoughts?

22.5 WSM and 10cfu blower

This is my setting for my 22.5 with burner and RD3
B=0; P=4; I=0.02; D=5
Fan pulse; min 10%; max 30%; max at startup
might be worth a try.

Assuming you have a servo / fan combo...

Try something like this:

Fan output on above 50% - Min 0% - Max 30%
Servo Fully Open at 50%

This will work the servo from 0-50%, then the fan will start kicking in at 51%, giving the HM a wider range to work.

I think the problem is more related to airflow than your PID settings. Your coals are definitely air starved. If you are certain enough airflow can enter and leave your smoker, then the problem is too much air is bypassing the coals and not contributing to combustion.

I would buy that. I also found that my lid was not sitting down tight. I was lazy and ran the probe leads under the lid and it was enough to knock the lid slightly off if I wasn't really careful. Worked much better yesterday. I do think I need to make a air burner for it too.
