Silver & Blue SSP

For years I had been searching for an SSP cart, and last July I scored two. I wanted to put my blue lid and bowl in it. But I wanted it to be different. So I painted the cart silver. It turned out great, and I am in LOVE with it. Cheers 🍻 Happy Grilling!

I am taking the tank to (hopefully) get re-certified tomorrow and then I’ll be painting that as well. Fingers crossed 🤞

Looks super good. Love that silver paint and blue details.

A couple things that made my SSP grill experience a little better... larger lid bail from later Gen 4 Performer (allows lid to 90 degrees) and electric ignition (1xAAA battery) from Gen 4 Performer.

Also, I adapted the bracket to hold a more common 5lb tank (tank from Costco). See my post below.

Hey, Cody, I'm no expert on SSPs, but your tank might need an OPD to be requalified. The tri-lobed shut-off valve handle shown in @Mike-GA's pics is the tip-off...if you have one on your tank, you're good, but if not, maybe you can swap your non-OPD shut-off valve with one from a newer tank?

I’m not sure what you’re saying? I took a tank off an old Genesis to my local co-op and they re-certified it. Is this one different?

I don't know, I haven't seen a picture of the shut-off handle. If it is tri-lobed like the picture, you are good. A tank with an OPD has this style handle. If it's not, then you might have an issue, depending on who does the certification.

There should be a date of manufacture stamped on the collar around the valve, formatted as MM-YY, as well as any re-test dates appended with an 'E', if you're curious.
