Seafood dinner

Fall crab season just opened in my area of Washington.
We have a good friend spends a few days with us so we went crabbing and clamming.

When we went to drop the pots I saw a large piece of bull kelp so I grabbed some to experiment with on a kelp salad.
I bought some kelp salad recently at Costco and it was good so I thought I could make some.
This kelp salad is awesome.

All I did was blanch a few feet of it For 10-15 seconds.
Cold water rinse.
Add a very small amount of sesame oil, Thai sweet chili sauce, a pinch of rosemary and a sprinkle of granulated garlic.
I highly recommend trying this salad.
It was the surprise hit on this dinner.

We also steamed 10 crabs and made a geoduck ceviche served on crunch tostada’s.

If you look closely at the pic of me you can see the crab pots behind me.
Just below the pot on the right is the remaining portion of the kelp I grabbed.

Yeah ya know?
I never thought I could get behind eating kelp.
I tried it once when I was in grammar school and it was dry, salty and more or less yucky.
Then I tried the Costco stuff recently and it was like an Asian salad of sorts that tasted pretty good.
This has a unique pleasant taste that you would’t associate with a clump of sea weed.

Not to pitch a Costco product but when we bought their kelp salad my picky kids were all over it and it didn’t last long.
