rotisserie maintenance

bought a used spit rod at a second hand store last week. I like to check and clean things thoroughly on anything I get.
so I took it apart, well, mainly taking off the handle. there is a screw inside. now I tried turning it both ways but had a
hard time. then I sorta remembered that anything on a rotis likes to be left hand threads. so I put a little extra effort
in that direction and finally it came loose. so this is just a reminder that many if not most threads on a rotiss rod, etc
will be left hand thread. glad I did as the screw threads were rusting.

Those left hand threads always get me too!! The left pedal on bicycles has a left hand thread too as I recall.

My rotisserie motor was acting up.... again after giving it a clean and lub some time ago. But I wasn't really thorough the first time. Just took the cover off and used Qtips to put some general purpose lube on the gears and some shafts. This time I took all the gears off and cleaned and lubed them and put it back together. The electric motor seems fine enough. Just a build up of some gunk and stuff over time. I've had this one since 2001 and would like to keep it going a lot longer.

yep/ I have written about the maintenance of the motors. they do need it at times. I took all mine apart, cleaned and lubed with white grease and they work quieter and smoother. I also have found loose screws and wiring.
