Rectangular Pieces on Weber Crossover Tube

Have a Weber Spirit E-310 propane grill. Two of the rectangular metal pieces have fallen off from the tube. Weber is sending me a replacement (on back order), and the grill still lights. Does anyone know the purpose of these parts and is the grill safe to use? TIA!

Hi Jerry, can you post a picture? I'm not sure which part you are describing.

They are protectors or mini shields. They are supposed to stop food and grease from falling on the crossover tube between flavorizer bars.

Attaching a picture showing the crossover bar and the 2 pieces that fell off, but I think Joe Anshien's reply hit it on the head. The 2 pieces would normally be below the flavorizer bars.
