Q's with the small disposable cylinders - How long do they burn?

Can anyone give me an idea of how long those little Coleman $2 and some change propane cylinders last when used on a Weber Q grill? I have another thread under gas grills where I'm trying to determine the best gas grill for my elderly parents. It would be easier for them to handle the little cylinders, but would they need to have a case of them on hand?

Since this is a Q specific question, I thought I'd ask it here in the Q section since you Q guys are not allowed in the regular gas grill section ;)

On my Q220 I get about 1.5 hours of service depending on flame setting so give or take a little. BTW I did respond to your other thread. The carts for the Q grills are VERY awkward. Because they don't "roll". You have to lift one side and sort of shuffle it along. My own dad is 88/89 (I forgot) and he moves his own Genesis 3000 very easily in and out of his garage. I would never give him a Q on a Weber cart

Just buy a $20 Charbroil propane adapter hose and hook it up to a regular 20lb propane tank. Since the Qs are so efficient, you would only need to swap out the tanks maybe once every 8-12 months, depending on how often they use it.

But man, once they get hooked, they'll be using that thing every day!

ChangL,
THe Q3200 which I am considering is set up for a 20# propane tank. I was thinking about going the other way, and adapting it to use the little bottles.

First I don't believe you can. Second it would suck one of those down in nothing flat. If you really wanted a lighter tank just go with a 5lb or so.

I'm with LMichaels on this subject. Those torch bottles aren't going to last on a 3200. You can get pancake tanks in several sizes that would lighten the overall load. Only downside would be they would have to be filled, rather than exchanged...but that's not a huge thing.
