q120 without thermometer?

Saturday, I am going to meet someone who is selling their Q120 on CL. They say it's an older model that doesn't have a thermometer. I seem to recall reading southing about that on here but can't find it now.
Is that right?
Is there anything I should watch out for?
This would be my first Q.
From the photos, it looks pretty clean – for a grill.
I was going to bring my Performer's propane canister to check out the Q, but I just found out the old-style q120s don't take the 16-oz canisters. They only take the long, skinny, 14-oz bottles.
The seller started at $100 and is down to $50.
Thanks, all.

I had one like that a Q-120 without a thermometer. The thermometers were added to the 120’s fairly recently 2011 I think. There is a wire tank holder that a 14oz tank fits into, if you want to use a 16oz just remove the holder. The very early ones had no battery igniter. 50 dollars is ok but I would not go higher.

Good luck

That older model Q-120 turned out to be a Q-200. It's still the older design that uses only 14-ounce propane canisters.
I went ahead a bought it and plan to run it on a 20-pound propane tank.
Any advice on this q-200, which seems to get more bad reviews than either the 100s or 300s.
I love it when sellers don't know what they are selling.
Thanks.

There is nothing inherently "wrong" with the q200 series design. I do believe there was a production batch that had flaky regulators. Since it seems there are more regulator complaints for that model. I know went through it myself on the one I bought for oldest daughter. As I described in another post though, I simply used a regulator and hose from an old Genesis series grill and with a 1/8" brass nipple adapted that so she simply leaves it on the stationary cart with a 20lb tank. Works like a champ
