Hello! New Member, here.
Bought this unit new, back in the day, and used it about a decade with no problems. I moved to a house with a built in and this grill went to seed for a long while on the side of the house until I learned the error of my ways and put it in storage. Moved, again, and decided to pull the old Summit 425 out of storage and refurbish it. It still has great bones.
I took it apart (I should have taken pictures, but...oh, well. I still have the original manual which will help), cleaned it pretty well and went on the search for parts. Didn't have this site as a source, then, but still found burners, igniters, flavor bars, hose, and various other small parts. I'm about to put it back together but would like some advice on a couple of things from the experienced folks, here.
1) In cleaning up the manifold, I noticed the valves were sticking, so I decided to take them apart to clean them. I found some sound advice on the sticky, here, cautioning care in removing the tiny screws on the valves for cleaning and lubrication. I found them to be immovable after all of these years and don't want to be overly aggressive in fear of ruing the heads on those little screws. Can anyone give me any direction on getting those little suckers out besides WD 40, which I've tried? Will I need to take that job to a pro? Don't want to be looking for valves.
2) Hope this is not too elementary since this is my first attempt at grill work and am not not really acquainted with gas pressure standards. I bought a new regulator because I did not know if the original was functioning. How can I tell if the original is working properly? If I decide to change it, the replacement regulator is rated at 4" WC. The manual says the original is rated at 4.5" WC. Will the small difference cause a problem?
Any instruction would be helpful. Thanks!
