Pineapple-Gruyere Burgers

This was tonight's dinner. We both gave it an "Excellent" rating. Hope you all will try it and enjoy it as much as we did šŸ„°

Pineapple-Gruyere Burgers

Four 1/2" thick rings of peeled and cored fresh pineapple
Vegetable oi
1 1/2 lbs. freshly ground chuck
Salt and freshly ground pepper
Four 1/4" thick slices of Gruyere cheese
4 hamburger buns
2 cups mixed baby lettuce
8 thin slices of red onion
12 thin slices of tomato
Ketchup, for serving (we used mayo.)

1. Light grill or preheat the broiler. Grill the pineapple onan oiled rack or broil until golden brown, about 3 minutes per side.. Transfer to a plate and keep warm.
2. Shape the ground chuck into four 3 1/2" patties and season on both sides with salt and pepper.
3. Grill the burgers on an oiled grill rack or broil for 4 minutes. Turn and cook for 3 minutes more. Place a slice of Gruyere on each burger and cook until the cheese is melted, about 1 minute more for medium-rare.
4. Meanwhile, grill or toast the buns
5. Place the burgers on the buns and top each with a pineapple ring. Mound the baby lettuce on the top halves of the buns. Serve with the red onion and tomato slices and ketchup or mayo.
