Password issues?

So I figured that I woudl finally upgrade the software on my HM 4.2 tried to get into the config and I can't get in. I am pretty sure I remember the password but it is not letting me in.
is there a limit on how many times I can enter a password?
also is there a way to just blow it away or reset it? maybe pull the sd card and manually load the new confg via my pc?

You can try as many passwords as you like, there is no lockout or throttling.

If you've upgraded to the latest firmware or snapshot, make sure you've booted more than once (to remove the config_restore files), then use the device's menus and navigate to Reset Config? and say yes. It should say Resetting Configuration... and in about a minute you'll be back to stock with no password and the device set up as an access point. You can also just pull the SD card out and re-image it to achieve the same effect, again with the caveat that you need to have booted more than once with the new firmware.
