Options for mounting blower to WSM 18

I've seen a lot of great info here about putting together the heatermeter, adding the linkmeter, lots of stuff about blowers & dampers, but very little about how to interface to the smoker itself. Has anyone compiled a list of configurations that have worked? I have a WSM18 smoker. Do most people just buy the manifold adapter from PitMasterIQ? It would be nice to hear some homebrew solutions that don't require extensive metal fabrication, but look nice.

Seems like I could get most of that HW from Home Depot, but I'm stumped on the bowl...
