Noeprene vs Silicone gloves?

Looking for an all purpose glove that's washable, mostly for handling meats and the smoker of course. I read through another thread, came up with some good recommendations and now i have it narrowed down.

Neoprene:

Silicone Ecogrips:

I'm leaning towards the Neoprene - seems like you can handle items better, as they appear more form fitting and less slippery than the silicone knobbies. The silicones can be tossed into the dishwasher, but if they're awkward then it's probably a deal breaker.

Can anyone comment from experience with these 2 materials or brands- which would be a better all in one glove? Thanks!

I have the orange silicone. Other than being a bit slippery when they get greasy and you try to take them off, they work great. I have lifted butts out of the smoker, removed my water pan, and removed a smoke canister with them.

Last Sunday I lifted the grate from a grill that had been cooking at 375 and removed two foil packs of spent wood chips form underneath, while holding the grate in my hand.

I will tell you that of you hold onto something too long it can get uncomfortable.

If you poke around Amazon you'll find those gloves with a set of bear paws for $20.

Thanks for the info - these look pretty good too if I go with the neoprene:

I have a pair of gloves similar to those as well. I can't use them to pick up anything wet for the very reason stated above. Wet turns to steam when it gets hot, and steam will penetrate the gloves. They are great though for grabbing grates and whatnot though.

I've decided to go with these. Double insulated and a removable inside liner.
