Hello, got my Smokefire assembled today, assembly went well but first burn didn’t. Started it up and ran it for about 15 minutes. A lot of pellets ended up next to the fire pot and it appeared a lot of pellets were stuck to the ramp leading to the fire pot. I was using Treager pellets. It appeared the auger was plugged also. I should have taken pictures

Been there. My first burn with an EX4 went well. The 2nd wound up just like yours.

Double check assembly, clean pot and run it again.

It’s a cooking machine. Love mine

Tried again Monday evening, it got up to 300 Degrees and then fagged out. At this point I believe it is the pellets. Once again the ramp leading from the auger to the combustion pot seems to be jammed. I decided to empty the pellet box and it was very hard to get the pellets to go thru that gate. The pellets were from last fall and even if they didn’t seem wet, the may be full of moisture. I have some Green mountain pellets coming from Amazon this week and I’ll give it another go.

Green Mountain is what I run almost exclusively and have had zero feed issues. Hope it works out for you.

Have you tried another glow plug? It’s not lighting what’s in the pot for some reason. Made sure it’s updated?

Tim, no I have not. Grill starts fast up to 300 degrees and then has trouble. I’ll try the Green Mountain and I believe the problem will go away. If not I’ll change plugs.

After looking more closely, I see the problem. When I assembled I got the fire box rotated 180 degrees which makes the two screw holes for the chute in the wrong position causing about 1/4 inch ledge on the top of the fire box. The pellets won’t slide into the burn chamber and mostly land on top of the fire box and back up on the chute.
